Zell-am-See and the glacier resort of Kaprun form the Europa Sport region - a great range of skiing and snowboarding for all levels.
Zell-am-See is a smart little lakeside town is packed with charm, offering a good range of shops bars and cafés with a traffic free centre. During the height of the season the lake freezes over enabling you to walk from one side to the other, while activities such as curling and skating are practised upon it.
The ski area offers tree lined skiing best suited to beginners and intermediates although there are several challenging reds and black slopes for the more advanced level. Groups will access the Schmittenhöhe mountain from either the Schmittenhöe lift or the Areitbahn depending upon the location of their accommodation. For groups considering skiing for a day in Kaprun, we would recommend that it is later in the stay as there are few beginner slopes on the glacier and it can get very busy. The Europa Sport lift pass for the whole ski area also includes the ski bus free of charge.
We are delighted to be able to offer the family run Hotel Daxer. It is located on the sunny side of the Schmittental, enjoys a quite location on the edge of the village yet it is just a 2 minutes’ walk to the lifts and ski school which is 150m away. The capacity is 110 beds and coupled with the excellent facilities makes an ideal early or late season destination. Meals are buffet style breakfast and packed lunch while dinner includes a salad bar and good, traditional food mad from organic, locally grown produce. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, bar and a lounge with open fire. This is an excellent standard of hotel for groups and extends a very warm welcome. It’s a short drive or 25 minute walk to the village centre, away from major distractions.
The Gletscherblick is a family run hotel on the edge of Schüttdorf and approximately 800m from the Areitbahn lift station. It is a compact hotel that extends a warm welcome and offers a high standard of accommodation that includes a wellness centre available to the group, under teacher supervision. Meals are on a half board basis with packed lunch or it is possible to take a hot lunch on the mountain, at a small supplement. Rooms are for 2-3 persons throughout the hotel and all have private facilities. The capacity is for 42 persons and so ideal for a smaller group looking for sole occupancy of a well run hotel with high standards.
