Overview

Snow sure, glacier skiing in the Tirol - this region has excellent snow from October to May and skiing for all abilities.

The Pitztal Valley is located between Innsbruck and St Anton and is an area little frequented by the English! For many years the Pitztal Glacier has been the training centre for the Austian National ski teams who start their preparation for winter on the glacier in late October - the season runs from late September to June!

The ski area is accessed along a picturesque valley with several villages and hamlets en-route. The principal village is St Leohnard from where the lifts to the Rifflsee and Pitztal Glacier start. Each area has its own characteristics with Rifflsee being good to start the week with varied runs for all abilities. The Pitztal Glacier provides further challenges with some wide blues and demanding red and black runs. With a guide and instructor it is usually possible to organise an expedition to ski the main glacier itself. Soaring to a top station height of 3440m the area will provide fantastic skiing that will take your breath away!

We recommend that groups travel by bus to this resort as accommodation may be a few minutes from the slopes and apres-ski activities are located along the valley.
