Snow sure and sunny in the shadow of Mont Blanc!

We first came across Les Saisies when our driver, Patrick, enthused over it! He was not wrong and we think it’s a little gem! Largely purpose built but without the high rise and large apartment blocks, the village came to prominence as the venue for the cross country and biathlon events at the Winter Olympics of 1992 based around Albertville. The village has a night club and cinema, natural ice rink and a new luge which is sure to be a hit with visitors to this lovely resort. It has a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and an ambience that is very French!

Situated close to Mont Blanc, Les Saisies has an exceptional quality and quantity of snow during the season. Located in a sunny bowl above the Val d’Arly, the village straddles a col that provides access to skiing on both sides of the valley. The lifts are centred on the village and radiate in all directions; the network has recently been extended to link with the neighbouring resort of Notre Dame de Bellecombe. Beginners will find that they rapidly progress from the village nursery slopes to the wide blues of Mont Bisanne for a real sense of achievement. Intermediates and advanced skiers will find longer and more challenging runs on Mt Legette and the link to Notre Dame de Bellecombe.

Hotel Le Very

This family run hotel is located at the end of the main street in a quiet location, yet close to all the village amenities. It offers accommodation in cosy rooms for 2-4 persons, all of which have private facilities. Accompanying adults are provided with twin rooms. The hotel can accommodate 65 persons and is ideal for groups looking for sole occupancy. Meals are taken in the restaurant next door or a local pizzeria and comprise a buffet continental breakfast, simple hot lunch in the village and a 3-course dinner. There is a sauna for the adults and a bar with space for meetings/evening activities, table football and electronic driving games (1-2€)

Hotel Du Vivier

In the hamlet of St Nicolas la Chapelle this friendly, family run hotel can accommodate a total of 42 persons and so is ideal for sole occupancy. The hotel is located midway between Les Saisies and the chic resort of Megeve where most of the evening activities take place. Transfer is about 20 minutes. Rooms are for 2-4 persons and all have private facilities, some with balcony. Meals are full board with a plentiful breakfast with packed lunch and a 3-course evening meal in the hotel. A hot lunch, at a small supplement, is possible in the village on request.
