Claviere is a lovely old character village with doorstep skiing and exceptional convenience.
Claviere is a small resort right on the border with France. The fantastic 400kms of ski runs in the Milky Way area connects both Claviere and neighbouring Montgenèvre in France, in addition to Sauze, Sestriere, Sansicario and Cesana. The characteristic mountain village architecture of Claviere is a charming blend of old and new, set amidst breathtaking scenery and the locals claim it has the best snow conditions in the Milky Way.
As part of the Turin Olympic Games, there was a huge investment in the whole area so you will find all the charm still intact but the improvements to the village have been significant with new chairlifts making access to the slopes better.
For beginners, Claviere provides a pleasant, flat area in the village and an enormous blue run which starts above the trees and goes all the way back to the village. Intermediates have many choices including some adventurous semi off-piste down little paths which wind through trees and seem to go on forever. Advanced skiers have some good reds, some inspiring off-piste, and there's the Milky Way to explore.
The chalet is centrally located, just 150m from the slopes. The accommodation is perfectly designed for groups and for owner Gaetano nothing is too much trouble. Student rooms are for up to 8 persons and teachers are provided with twin bedded rooms. All are spacious and en-suite. Meals are plentiful and varied and comprise a breakfast buffet, hot lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. The food is FANTASTIC! There is a small games room and a bar and meeting facilities are possible too.
