Austria
Home of ski legend Franz Klammer, BKK is a friendly resort that has been welcoming groups for many years.
The village is lined with attractive chalets and smart hotels, plenty of little shops, cafés and restaurants. Our hotels are located outside the village in Millstätt and Feld am See, between 15 and 25 minutes away by bus.
The skiing is located in two connected areas at BKK and St.Oswald; BKK has something for everyone and for all abilities. The ski runs are long and wide and have some great tree-lined routes. There are nursery slopes situated close to the each village; and there is a dedicated area and long blue run from the top of the gondola to the village before progressing to the numerous intermediate slopes on both sides of the valley. For more advanced skiers there are some challenging reds and the Franz Klammer piste named after the former World Cup champion. The run is wide, long and challenging with some camel bumps that are not for the faint-hearted! The ski pass covers both areas.
In our opinion Bad Kleinkirchheim offers superb skiing and excellent accommodation for school groups - the perfect combination!
The hotel is close to a selection of recreational activities and offers a cosy, relaxed atmosphere and high standard of accommodation. It’s located in Feld-am-See, 3 minutes walk from the village centre. The rooms are comfortably furnished and there is a small bar and several lounges to relax in at the end of the day. The meals are full board with a packed lunch or a simple hot meal in resort. The food is varied and plentiful; dinner is taken at the nearby Hotel Alte Post. Within the vicinity there are opportunities for tobogganing, curling, ice skating and bowling for evening activities. The daily transfer time is about 10-15 minutes each way.
We are very excited to be able to offer the Hotel Alte Post! Located in the village of Feld-am-See, the hotel was completely refurbished for the 2011 season. It offers elegant surroundings and is within easy walking distance of the village centre and lake where several activities such as ice skating and curling can take place in the evenings. Public rooms are spacious, with a good restaurant and bar. The capacity of the hotel is 100 beds. Rooms are shared for students ranging from 2-4 persons and accompanying adults will have twin or single rooms; all have private facilities. Meals are full board with a simple hot lunch in resort. There is a heated outdoor pool at the sister hotel 300m away for guests use.
The ski area is 9km distant, or approximately 10-15 minutes by bus. This is an excellent opportunity to stay in quality 3*+ accommodation which will surely reach 4* standard when reclassified.
The hotel is located in the village of Millstatt and occupies a quiet position overlooking the lake of the same name. The accommodation is comfortable and offers elegant surroundings for up to 80 persons and so is ideal for larger groups looking for sole occupancy. Rooms are spacious; student accommodation is for 2-4 persons while adult rooms are either twin bedded or single; all have private private facilities. Meals are on a full board basis with a varied breakfast buffet and 3-course dinner with salad bar - the midday meal can either be a picnic or simple hot meal close to the base station in resort, according to preferrence.
The hotel is approximately 25 minutes from the slopes.
The Hotel Burgstaller is a welcoming, family run hotel that offers a comfortable, yet relaxed atmosphere. It occupies an envious position on the lakeside in Feld-am-See, a small village just 9kms from Bad Kleinkirchheim. There are spacious public areas and a large terrace overlooking the lake which, in winter, is frozen and offers the opportunity for various activities such as skating, curling or ice hockey, virtually right outside the door. In case you are wondering about the safety of the frozen lake, it is only used on the say-so of the village Burgermeister who has the responsibility of declaring it safe to use, and monitors the ice throughout the winter!
In addition to the public areas which include lounges, bar and terrace, the rooms are comfortable and all have private facilities. In a traditional style, they mainy comprise "Austrian twin" beds, which are two full size single mattresses within a double frame which are made up individually. Meals are generous and varied with a breakfast buffet and three course evening meal with salad bar. The midday meal is a simple hot lunch at the base of the slopes. All-in-all we feel that this hotel will become a favourite; its capacity of 60 beds makes it ideal for sole occupancy for a slightly larger than normal bus group.
The hotel is approximately 10-15 minutes by coach from the slopes.
