Visit the Great War battlefields to gain an understanding into the effects of war on poets and writers of war literature and how it was conveyed in their writing.

A visit to the sites significant to the War poets and writers will allow students to better understand the historical and cultural contexts that influence some of the greatest writers and provide an insight into where their ideas came from and how the themes and plots were formed. It cannot be replicated in the classroom but it is sure to be a a poignant experience.
