Dubbed the "Battleground of Europe", Belgium has seen centuries of warfare including the World Wars of the twentieth century. Since 1945 Belgium has been at the heart of Europe, a founder member of the EU and home to the European Parliament and NATO together with a plethora of international finance and trade companies.
